About the LinkedIn Post Character Counter

LinkedIn posts can be up to 3,000 characters, but the feed shows only about the first 210 characters (fewer on mobile) before “…see more”. Use this counter to keep the opening strong enough to earn the click.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text into the box. Your draft stays in this browser only.
  2. Watch the count and the “left / over” figure update as you type.
  3. Check the table to see which other platforms the same text fits.
  4. Click “Copy text” and paste it into the app.

Tips

  • The first two lines decide whether people expand the post. Put the point there, not the background.
  • Short paragraphs read better on mobile than one block of text.
  • Headlines on your profile have their own 220-character limit — check it with the all-platform counter.

Frequently asked questions

Do spaces and line breaks count?

Yes. Every platform counts spaces, line breaks and punctuation as characters, so the count here includes them too.

Do emojis count as one character?

On most platforms an emoji counts as one character, but some emojis are built from several code points. X counts every emoji as two. This tool counts emojis the way each platform does where that is documented.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

No. Counting happens in your browser. Your draft is kept only in this browser so it survives a refresh, and you can clear it any time.
