About the YouTube Title Character Counter
YouTube allows titles of up to 100 characters, but search results and suggested videos usually show only about the first 70. Keep the words that matter inside the visible part.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box. Your draft stays in this browser only.
- Watch the count and the “left / over” figure update as you type.
- Check the table to see which other platforms the same text fits.

Tips
- Put the main keyword early in the title, not after a long intro.
- Avoid all caps: it reads as shouting and YouTube may limit reach of misleading titles.
- Test the title next to your thumbnail. They should add to each other, not repeat.
Frequently asked questions
Do spaces and line breaks count?
Yes. Every platform counts spaces, line breaks and punctuation as characters, so the count here includes them too.
Do emojis count as one character?
On most platforms an emoji counts as one character, but some emojis are built from several code points. X counts every emoji as two. This tool counts emojis the way each platform does where that is documented.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. Counting happens in your browser. Your draft is kept only in this browser so it survives a refresh, and you can clear it any time.
